1. Research Programmes (Ph.D.)
IISc offers Ph.D. programmes across various departments and interdisciplinary areas:
Science Faculty:

2. External Registration Programme (Ph.D.)
The External Registration Programme is designed for:
1. Professionals from R&D organizations and industries.
2. Faculty members from recognized Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, and Medical Colleges/Universities.
Eligibility Criteria
Regular Research Programmes
Applicants must have a minimum of a second-class degree in relevant fields, such as:
Bachelor’s Degrees:Engineering/Technology, 4-year Bachelor of Science.
Master’s Degrees: Various specializations, including Science, Engineering, and Management.
Final-year students who expect to complete their degree requirements by January 1, 2025, are also encouraged to apply.
External Registration Programme
Eligibility criteria are similar to those for regular candidates. However, applicants must have two years of full-time employment in their current organization and should be officially sponsored by their employers.
Selection Procedure
Candidates for the Ph.D. programmes will be shortlisted based on their performance in national entrance tests and qualifying degrees. The final selection will depend on an interview, which may include preliminary assessments or aptitude tests in some departments.
For the External Registration Programme, selection will be based solely on the interview performance.
