IISER Mohali is inviting application from eligible candidates for admission to the PhD program in various disciplines, including Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences, starting in January 2025. Last Date to Apply for the admission is October 13, 2024. 

IISER Mohali PhD 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess a Master's degree, B.Tech, MBBS, or M.Tech with strong academic records. Additionally, they must be CSIR-UGC-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, DBT-BINC, or DST-INSPIRE qualified in the relevant subject, or hold other national-level fellowships or sponsored fellowships from private or state agencies.

Candidates with GATE, JEST, GPAT, ICAR-NET, or NET-LS qualifications who wish to pursue a PhD without a fellowship will also be considered. A limited number of SC/ST/PD/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates with these qualifications may qualify for a PhD fellowship from IISER Mohali, and some candidates across all categories may receive fellowships from faculty-external project grants. Candidates must meet specific departmental eligibility criteria outlined below.

IISER Mohali PhD 2025 Departmental Eligibility Criteria

Biological Sciences:
Master’s/B.Tech/MBBS/M.Tech/M.Pharm or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks. Must be GATE/CSIR-UGC (JRF/LS)/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-NET/DBT-JRF (Category I/II)/DBT-BINC/DST-INSPIRE qualified in the relevant subject or have other national-level fellowships.

Chemical Sciences:
Master’s/B.Tech/MBBS/M.Tech/M.Pharm in relevant fields with a good academic record. Must be CSIR-UGC (JRF/LS)/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF/DBT-BINC/DST-INSPIRE qualified. Candidates' research interests will be considered for laboratory and guide assignment.

Physical Sciences:
Master’s/B.Tech/M.Tech with a good academic record (high second class) and valid scores in CSIR-UGC (JRF/LS), JEST-Physics, DST-INSPIRE in Physics, or GATE-Physics as of January 1, 2025.

Earth and Environmental Sciences:
MSc/M.Tech with first-class (minimum 65% for General/OBC; 60% for SC/ST/PD) in relevant subjects or BTech with 75% (General/OBC) or 70% (SC/ST/PD). Must qualify for GATE/CSIR-UGC (JRF/LS)/DST-INSPIRE/DBT-JRF as of January 1, 2025.

Humanities and Social Sciences:
M.A./M.Sc./M.Phil/B.Arch/M.Arch with a minimum of 55% (General/OBC) or 50% (SC/ST/PD) in relevant areas. Candidates must have a valid national-level qualifying exam score. A statement of proposed research (minimum 1500 words) must be sent to hssiisermohali@gmail.com.
